Photography. One word, yet with so much meaning. An elegant art form that shows the passion, hard work, and dedication of the photographer. Now I am by no means a professional photographer, but photography has really helped me through the bad times and has been a creative outlet for my mind to flourish. Photography is one of my favorite hobbies and has had a lasting impact on my life that will stick with me forever.
This art form helped me realize my creativity and helped me bring out my artistic side. Thanks to photography, I can look at the world in a different view. It’s like instead of viewing a play from the audience, I’m the script writer. I can play around with the camera, shooting from different angles, seeing which fits best. I am no longer an always logical and analytical thinker, but instead incorporate more creative ideals and values into my thinking.
Photography has taught me the power of mindfulness and being appreciative of the smallest things. It has changed my mental state and has allowed me to be less caught up in the material products of this world, and think more about experiences and every living moment. Instead of focusing on the newest computers, newest homes, or any expensive material item, I have been able to appreciate and cherish a thing so simple as a calming wave meeting the sandy shore. Physical things have a limited lifetime whereas powerful and impacting experiences last forever. Think about it, would you rather have the newest phone, laptop, etc., or go on a delightful trip with your loved ones? The answer is quite clear to me.
Not only has the gift of photography taught me the importance of mindfulness and thankfulness, but it has also led me to many different and unique places I am truly lucky to have visited. I have quite the appreciation for nature and wildlife now, photography has opened a new door for me. Everybody has that one passion in life that really brings them joy, and for me that’s photography.
Photography. One word, yet with so much meaning. To me, it’s my passion, my outlet when something goes wrong in the world, my safe haven. I am so very truly grateful to have discovered this art form. I may not be a famous photographer with millions of followers, but the friends, experiences, and emotions, I will treasure for my whole life.
